Principal's Message

Hello Cougar Families,

The coming weeks are full of exciting events at our school! Our girls’ and boys’ basketball teams are gearing up for their upcoming tournaments, and working very hard to hone their skills. There is a link below which will take you directly to the LESAA website for information regarding sporting events for the remainder of this school year. Grade 8 graduation photos will also be taking place, marking an exciting milestone for our graduating students. This month, we are focusing on the character trait of compassion, encouraging kindness and empathy in our daily interactions and we will also be recognizing Black History Month through learning and reflection. In addition, we will observe National Pink Shirt Day, reminding students of the importance of standing up against bullying and helping to create a safe, inclusive school community for everyone.

Good News! Wiarton Willie did not see his shadow - fingers crossed for an early Spring!

Have a wonderful weekend.

J. Cole, Principal

School Council

The focus of School Council is to meet to discuss events and fundraisers at CBPS, bring up issues with administration, and plan special opportunities for students and families. The support they provide to our students and staff is invaluable.

A major contributor to the councils fundraising efforts is through their association with Community Spirit Bingo ,whose proceeds play a meaningful role in supporting local charities and non‑profits, including Collins Bay Public School.

The school currently sends two volunteers twice a month for two hours, and this commitment brings in over $1,000 each month to directly support students.

These funds help enrich educational experiences through hands‑on, experiential learning opportunities, strengthen school sports teams, and provide essential classroom resources.

Recently, proceeds have been used to purchase new school art supplies, school jerseys, sports and yard equipment, and even contribute to pavement improvements on school grounds. Thanks to this community‑driven support, students benefit from programs, equipment, and enhancements that might not otherwise be possible.

If you would like more information about this volunteer fundraising opportunity please contact SAC Chair Alyssa Baird atabaird25@gmail.com

Our next School Council meeting will be held Tuesday, March 24th at 5:30 in the library.

All CBPS guardians are invited to join us. Meeting will also be offered virtually through Teams. Hope to see you there!

Host an International Student - Be a Part of Kingston's Global Community

Limestone is proud of our long tradition of hosting students from other countries.  The demand for Kingston, and Canada, as a learning destination is rapidly growing.  Students from over 15 different countries are here now staying with great homestay families in Limestone. Our International Education team is looking for more families to become homestay hosts to great international students.

We currently have 19 students on our waiting list that have applied to Limestone for 2026-2027 and need a home. They range from one semester to one year stays and are from Germany, Spain, Japan, Brazil, Slovakia, Czechia, Italy and Denmark.

Host families will be paid a tax-free monthly stipend to host students. All students in the program attend local intermediate or secondary schools and range in age from 12 to 17 years old. Our International Education team works hard to make a great match for your family, that can last a lifetime.

Families can learn more by visiting Limestone’s International Education website or phoning the International Education offices at 613-544-7745 ext. 288.

Bus Cancellations

As we have seen several times already this year, sometimes buses are cancelled due to inclement weather. The decision to cancel buses is made by Triboard, in consultation with Limestone District School Board, early in the morning. This decision may be based on active weather in the morning or forecast weather for later in the day. We will send an email to families in the morning when buses are cancelled, but you can also sign up for notifications at https://triboard.ca/snowdays/. Please remember that if you drive your children to school on inclement weather days our supervision starts at 8:55 a.m. and students must be picked up by 3:30. If they are staying home due to weather or bus related cancellations, please report the absence through SafeArrival to avoid an attendance call. Please note that when buses are cancelled our Hot Lunch program is also cancelled for the day.
