CBPS Public School Family Update
January 9, 2026
Principal's Message
Happy New Year! It has certainly been a strange first week back, with two snow days and an usual January rain on Friday. We hope that next week sees a more regular return to winter and the routines of school. It has been wonderful getting to know the students and staff in my new role as principal. I look forward to getting to know the wider CBPS community, and look forward to lots of growth and learning and winter fun outside.
J. Cole, Principal

Monthly Character Trait
Each month we learn about and focus on developing a specific character trait. Last month the focus was "Generosity". This month we will be focusing on "Courage". Everyday we challenge ourselves to try new things that are out of our comfort zone which is how we learn and grow. At CBPS we are building resiliance and the belief that we can do hard things!
Bus Cancellations
As we have seen several times already this year, sometimes buses are cancelled due to inclement weather. The decision to cancel buses is made by Triboard, in consultation with Limestone District School Board, early in the morning. This decision may be based on active weather in the morning or forecast weather for later in the day. We will send an email to families in the morning when buses are cancelled, but you can also sign up for notifications at https://triboard.ca/snowdays/. Please remember that if you drive your children to school on inclement weather days our supervision starts at 8:55 a.m. and students must be picked up by 3:30. If they are staying home due to weather or bus related cancellations, please report the absence through SafeArrival to avoid an attendance call. Please note that when buses are cancelled our Hot Lunch program is also cancelled for the day.
Daily Schedule
School Council
The focus of School Council is to meet to discuss events and fundraisers at CBPS, bring up issues with administration, and plan special opportunities for students and families. The support they provide to our students and staff is invaluable. Our next School Council meeting will be held Tuesday, January 20th at 5:30 in the school library. We are also offering the option for families to join virtually through this link:
All CBPS parents/guardians are invited to join us at the school or online. Hope to see you there!
