Principal's Message

We have had a great first few weeks at CBPS! Students are settling into their routines and are hard at work completing baseline assessments in math and literacy. We have also been enjoying the beautiful September weather! Our Terry Fox Walk was a great success today. We reached our Goal of $250.00! Well Done Cougars! We are proud of our students for coming together to support this important cause. If you haven’t had a chance to donate yet, it’s not too late. You can still donate through our school’s Terry Fox fundraising page below:

As we look ahead, September 30 is Orange Shirt Day and the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. Students and staff will have opportunities to learn, reflect, and honour the children who were lost, Survivors, and the lasting impacts of the residential school system. We encourage families to wear orange as we come together to reflect on the importance of truth, reconciliation, and creating a more inclusive and caring community.

We are pleased to share that our school organization as it stands has been approved by the District Staffing Committee, which means that we do not need to reorganize any of our classrooms. We are very happy that we won't need to disrupt any of the routines that have been established, and that all students will stay in their current classes. There has been a change in our staffing assignments. Nicole Quick will be joining us in the Grade 3/4/5 & Planning Time role and Stephanie Sherman is moving to Storrington PS. Thank you to Ms. Sherman for all her hard work starting the year at CBPS. We wish you all the best in your new role. Welcome to Ms. Quick! We are happy to have you join the CBPS team.

Please see the newsletter below for important information about upcoming School Council elections & nomination form as well information about our school community.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Lunch Supervisor Opportunity

CBPS is looking for someone to join our team as a Lunch Supervisor, including providing coverage for Educational Assistant breaks, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. each school day. This is a paid position. There is some flexibility in the schedule for those who may not be available every day. If you are interested in learning more about this opportunity, please contact the school main office. Please note that an up-to-date Vulnerable Sector Screener is required.

School Council

Our small but mighty School Council meets about once every 6 weeks to discuss events and fundraisers at CBPS, bring up issues with administration, and plan special opportunities for students and families. It is a great way to stay informed and involved in your child's schooling!

Our CBPS Council from 2025-26 includes the following executive members:

  • Chair: Alyssa Baird
  • Secretary: Anne Thompson
  • Treasurer: TBD

We hold elections for all executive positions annually. This year our elections and first meeting of the year will be held on September 23 at 5:30 in the library. All parents/caregivers are welcome, whether you are interested in running for an executive position or not. Nomination Forms are available in paper copy at the school main office or electronically. Our Shared Commitment to Truth and Reconciliation

As we approach the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and Orange Shirt Day on September 30th, we are reminded of our collective responsibility to engage in learning about the Residential School System and the true history of relationships between Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples in what is currently known as Canada. This day invites us to honour the children who never returned home, stand with Survivors, and recommit ourselves to meaningful reconciliation in our classrooms and communities.

Grounded in the Truth and Reconciliation Commission's Calls to Action and our shared responsibilities as Treaty people, our Indigenous Education mission and vision guide our efforts to advance educational practices that honour Indigenous rights, knowledges, languages, cultures, and ways of being. Through meaningful relationships, reciprocal learning, and ongoing systemic transformation, we strive to create conditions where Indigenous students, families, and communities thrive, and where reconciliation is reflected through purposeful, sustained, and accountable action.

Concussion Codes of Conduct

All school boards in Ontario are required to have a policy on concussion safety for students. There have been some changes to LDSB Concussion Protocol this year which simply the  Return to Learn (RTL) and Return to Physical Activity (RTPA) process and support a safe, gradual, symptom-informed return to school and activity. These are outlined in Administrative Procedure 142: Concussions, as well as a variety of supporting resources and documents that outline a code of conduct for students and families, flow charts to identify and diagnose a concussion and assessment and management forms.  Please reach out to the school with any questions.

Cell Phone Use Policy

A reminder to families that Limestone District School Board has clear expectations regarding student cell phone use during the school day. At Holsgrove, we want students to be fully engaged in their learning and to have opportunities to build positive, face-to-face relationships with their peers. Cell phones can be a distraction during instructional time and can also take away from important social interactions at recess and lunch. For more information regarding LDSB policy on cell phone use at school please click here

Daily Schedule

Our school operates on a balanced day using a Day 1 to 5 cycle.
